4月24日（木）より、ロンドンを拠点に活動する写真家 James Perollsによる作品集「Decaying with the speed of spring」の刊行を記念したフェアを開催いたします。
まるで映画のワンシーンを切り取ったような作風が特徴的なPerolls。
生まれながらの色覚特性のため暖色系と寒色系の色を区別するのに苦労し、編集作業を本能的なアプローチに頼っていることで、独特の色使いが宿っていることもその印象を与える一因となっています。
入念に作り込まれた架空の世界の中で、複雑なキャラクターや感情、人間同士の交流を幅広く捉えています。さまざまな時代や美学を横断し、家族、友人、見知らぬ人との多様な関係やつながりを、人間の複雑な感情のダイナミクスとともに探求した作品を発表しています。
本フェアではPerollsの最新刊である「Decaying with the speed of spring」の通常版（初版500部）と特別版3種類（プリント付き・各10部限定）を販売。
また、1Fのギャラリーでは本イベントのために用意した10点ほどの作品を展示いたします。
映画やおとぎ話のように展開しながら、自己受容、個人の成長、そして私たちを束縛するものを手放すプロセスというテーマを掘り下げる新たなPerollsの世界観をお楽しみください。

James Perolls is a photographer from London. Best known for his cinematic photography, James captures a wide range of complex characters, emotions, and human interactions within carefully crafted fictional worlds. His stories span different eras and aesthetics, often exploring the diverse relationships and connections we have with family, friends and strangers, along with the complex dynamics of human emotion. James is severely colourblind and struggles to differentiate between colours in the warm and cool spectrums. He relies on an instinctive approach to his editing process, resulting in a distinctive use of colour in his work.
Decaying with the speed of spring tells the enigmatic story of a woman who encounters multiple versions of herself. As the number of versions grows, she spends time observing them until the experience becomes overwhelming.
The book unfolds like a cinematic fairy tale, primarily through photographs that capture the protagonist’s external world, while illustrations provide a glimpse into her inner thoughts and emotions. Through this journey, the book explores themes of self-acceptance, personal growth, and the process of letting go.
